Have Abit BE-6 mobo with PIII 450, G400 16Mb, Toshiba SD-M1212 DVD Drive, SB Live Value, powerdesk 5.11.012. The Matrox DVD Player (by Divicore) came with G400 will not play at all. When DVD disk inserted, the Matrox DVD Player will open, the light on DVD drive on for about 1 second, then nothing more. Win98 won't crash either. G400 has its own IRQ, not shared. Anyone have same system config. that works? Any help appreciated.

When I first installed my Toshiba SD-M1202 I had problems too. This was on an Abit BH6. Windows just refused to configure it correctly. The only way I got it working was to do a naked drive reinstall of Win98. Painful but true.
Apparently things change as Win98SE detected it with no problems.

I've ABit-BX6, Celeron 450, 128 pc-100, Toshiba SD-M1212, G400/16, SBLive! value. The DVD-drive is secondary master. The Divicore DVD-player shows the videos perfectly. Other players seems to drop frames. So, no problems here.

Same problem, almost a totally different system. Athlon 600 on Asus K7M, G400MAX, SBLive!, LG 2x DVD-ROM (until my Toshiba 5x SCSI drive turns up), PD 5.25 & VidTools 1.51.
The problems evaporated when I upgraded the Cinemaster engine, and disabled "Hardware Acceleration" that I had enabled in the excellent Region Selector utility.
Any deliberate reason why you're still on 5.11?

A follow up:
Have put the DVD Drive in seperate IDE port, by itself as master, and updated powerdesk to V 5.30. Now it will play up to the FBI warning only. Still can not figure it out. My cousin has an exact same configuration of mobo, HD, Video card, except that he has older SB AWE64 instead of my SB Live! Value, he did not even update Powerdesk, but his system works fine.

G400's don't get along too well with versions on LiveWare before 2.1. What SB drivers are you useing? If they are now the most recent you should update them anyway. Also when you updated the PD did you uninstall useing the MATROX utility first?

I had this problem when I first installed my G400. What it turned out to be (and it took a long time and several clean installs), was a windows file the my HP scanning software helpfully overwrote with an older version. I can't remember the file name offhand, but I can check later. BTW I did a reinstall of Win98 first and it didn't work, so you can over-write a new file but not an old one!Gareth

I had the same problem. I disabled the DMA Access for the DVD and it worked, but who wants to watch dvd when it is stucking all the time? By the way, PowerDVD 2 works fine.
My Config:
DVD Drive (Aopen 3296) + SBlive Value + G400 MAX, PII 450, 128 MB RAM
