Kinda, sorta OT.
Pondering taking my 2 year old Asus P3B-F from its present P-III 450MHZ to P-III 850MHZ. Upgrades like this don't come easy for me due to having to fool around with the bios and core cpu voltage and stuff. Anyhow, I still use the original bios for this board (simply known as V1.0A).. Can I go straight to the rev. 1006 from that one and expect the right support for the new CPU to be there, or should I do the three or so other revisions that preceded 1006? What's the best way to make sure I can flash back to V1.0A if something doesn't work?
Everytime I think of flashing the bios, I get visions of a dead computer, but since I hope to get another 2 years or so out of this box, I do need to do this upgrade while the chips can still be found. Need a little sound advice on proceeding with this. Thanks.
btw, cool-looking new site here. Fast too. I really like it.
