    Brendin,

Goto http://www.murc.ws/Utils.html and download Matrox Tweak Utility 1.12.

    There's a switch in here to enable/disable V-sync.

I have installed the tweak utility and only see an option to enable/disable fliponvblank. Is this what you are referring to or am I not in the right place.

I won't bother with NT but 2000 is an option. I have heard that there are beta drivers for the marvel. Where do I get these? I know premiere will work under NT/2000 but how about MSP or Avid Cinema?

This may be a wild stab in the dark but since installing the G400 I have noticed a motherboard warning message flash very quickly when my PC boots. I did not know what it meant so I mailed tech support at Chaintech and the reply was as follows:

        <snip>
There are two types of AGP slot Version 1 and Version 2.
Version 1 is also known as x2, Version 2 is also known as x4.
Your board will only work with version 1 (x2) cards, if you fit a Version 2 (x4) card you’ll get the error as you describe.
This is a hardware issue and currently can only be fixed by upgrading your main board or by downgrading your video card
        <snip>

Could this be anything to do with the problems encountered? Or have I been rather foolish not realising I have installed a X4 AGP card into my system?

According to Matrox I believe the Marvel G 400 is billed to be compatible with 2x and 4x AGP. I think I read this on the box.

That's what I originally thought. BUT if maybe it is not 100% compatable with X2AGP main boards could it cause the problems we are having?

How many of us having problems only have X2AGP main boards?

As I am at such a total loss at the moment anything is worth consideration!

If you modify your registry as follows you can force the card to use agp1x or 2x

              HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Matrox\PowerDesk\Curre nt Settings

              Option Possible Value Comments

              AGPFlags
0 Forces the MGA into AGP1X Mode
1 Forces the MGA into AGP2X Mode

I will try this and see if it works.

I think the above only applies to version 4x o PowerDesk

The "enable/disable fliponvblank" is the vsync switch.

Also, try going back to 1x mode. Our cards will do 2x transactions in any motherboard regardless if the motherboard is 2x or 4x. We do this by having those 2 notches on our connector (universal connector).

I can't believe that Chaintech would be that naive to tell give you that response. AGP slot version 2 is a 4x slot only. AGP slot version 1 is a 2x slot only. The notches on the graphic card for 2x and 4x are at different locations of the connector. So there is no way that a 4x only graphic card will even fit in an AGP slot version 1. Our cards do 2x transactions on both 2x/4x motherboards because we use a universal connector on our cards. If you look closely, you will see 2 notches on our connector. This is how we fit on both these connectors rather than having 2 sets of cards.

Those reg settings apply to the 5.x powerdesk drivers so try forcing our card to 1x along with enabling/disabling the vsync and see if that helps.

                        Brendin,
Can you force another IRQ for the Marvel instead of the one your using?

                        This might help.
                        Regards,
                        Elie

                          I have another theory...

I tried moving all my cards about to see whether this affected anything.

I then did some tests (PC case still off)...hardly any green lines at all. The odd one popped up maybe once or twice within a 5 min period.

I put the case back on and within no time at all back to the same problem. Green lines in the video window, on the TV etc..This surely cannot be a coincidence?

Is it possible there is a heat problem or even some interference problems? It seems everyone having problems tends to have a lot of stuff in their machines.

What is the difference between the G400 & G200 Marvel cable box other than the TV aerial connection? (Unless of course you have a G200 Marvel-TV).

I am wondering if it is possible to connect up my G200 box just to see whether this has any effect on the green lines...at least that part of the set up could be eliminated.

                              Hi Andrew,

both BOB's are the same. Please try it with your G200 BOB and see if that fixes your problem.

                                Speed Pete,

Thanks for sending the .bmp to in.
The green line is as much as was expected.
I have managed to reproduce the green line, but only at a resolution of 1280x1024@32.
The issue has been reported to the proper departments and I am now waiting for some answers.
As soon as I have more information I'll post again.
