  • RT.X 10 Newbie Questions

    Hi all!

I have a few questions regard to the Matrox RT/X10. The software would probably run only on NTFS partitions. Is this correct, or the software also functions on FAT32? Besides, the chipset KT266A is declared as incompatible.

Now my question: Will the RT.X10 run on my system or not? Got a KT266A Chipset an all Partitions are FAT32.
    My System

Has somebody collected perhaps experiences with a similar system?

Thanks for the answers and sorry for the bad english, i am a German!

Your RT.X10 will probably run on the VIA chipset, just not very well. VIA's choke bigtime when doing realtime previews or other high bandwidth operations.

Best economical alternative: a SiS 745 chipped mainboard like the MSI 745 Ultra. It can even handle the RT.X100 full-shot realtime cards features.

An AthlonXP 2000+ or faster works fine for the big guy so your RT.X10 shouldn't have a problem with it.

Yes I would agree that VIA is not the right solution for any NLE workstation so in other words, stay away as far as you can fom VIA based motherboards. And this is from experience!!
