What camera are you looking at?
I believe most cameras with IEEE1394 can be used with MSP
I assume you also are asking if you can take still images from the video. Yes you can. There are a few ways to do this. one is........ if you load an avi (video file) into the timeline then open the source window, then open the source window menu and choose "save image to" then file . bingo
You could download a trial version from the ulead site

If your camera can provide an IEEE-1394 DV stream, through an OHCI-compliant 1394 board, you will be able to use the VCapture module of MSP7 to copy it to disk and thence to edit it etc.

There are many 1394 cards available with various chipsets. I'd go for something with a TI or VIA chipset. On-board ones may be more problematic.

No way! They are still on the PCI bus and they are usually the cheapest, nastiest things available, whether they are for graphics, sound, networking, 1394 or what-have-you. Avoid them all like the plague and make sure you disable them in the BIOS. I know many who have come to grief using on-board gimmicks instead of decent purpose-built hardware.

Don't you think we should establish what version of MSPro dr_silencer has?

MSPro7 is designed around DV cams primarily but it can also handle analog devices. It has a very nice capture modle with all manner of DV related features, including not only capture of DV files but also MPEG and WMV directly.
