Did anybody notice the June 21, 2007 Corel news release above?
It seems to suggest that Corel plans to continue supporting the
professional DVD authoring community... but in a different way.
It appears Corel's technology -- no doubt the technology gained from
the acquisition of InterVideo and Ulead -- will be integrated into a
new application called "DoStudio MX" through a partnership with a
company called NetBlender:
I'm still reading the NetBlender.com Web page, and this seems so new
it's taking me time to understand all of the details, but I get the
impression the Corel technology will support an application that will
be available through a subscription fee.
The Corel news release indicates the fee will be $249 per month.
This is an interesting business model.
I wonder if it's a sign of things to come.
