Here's what I went through with 16ft ceilings and having to put my system on the long wall. I came up with some different DIY solutions that are within my "WAF" limits....LOL

For the walls I used wool rugs. These go well with Southwestern decor.

I did get permission to use acoustic foam behind the front speakers. This is Auralex Foam which comes in a variety of colors.

Note the use of wood molding to get the wife's approval.

Now, because of the bad echoes in a room with tall ceilings I even had to hang a wool rug on the back wall between the rear speakers.

To enhance the sound absorbtion I even put polyester batting behind the rugs.

For the front wall, which needed more sound absorbtion I put "nufoam" which is a compressed polyester batting behind the rug.

Both types of polyester batting can be bought at most fabric shops.

I remember seeing some of your hangings and you discussing some of the treatments Paul. I never got to see the final Auralex Foam panels, etc. Gawd, was that one or two years ago that we were talking about this. The MURC time sure is passing by.

I would have liked to put one more row of Auralex pannels to make it 2 ft higher in the back of the system but was lucky to get away with this much.

My last tweak was to add the polyester batting behind the rugs. That really cut down on the echoes.

Pretty amazing how much you can do within the WAF limitations, there.

BTW, Paul.. I see you've been working for Intel too long.. your house has become infested with the dreaded bunny suit gremlins.
