  • Yet another DVD recordable thread

I need to purchase some kind of recordable DVD drive for work. We need to back up large quantities of logs so that we can ship them to another department to be analyzed. We could probably just copy them across the network, but the bandwidth of a DVD is far superior (just the latency sucks ).

So, what should we get? It'll probably be attached to our backup server, which has IDE and Ultra160 scsi connections. No USB/Firewire available.

What DVD format should I be looking at? Re-write is not important, so I guess it's between -R and +R. From what I can tell so far, it's down to the "hp dvd writer dvd200i" or the "pioneer DVR-A04".

    So, let's hear some recommendations!
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox
