    Oh, lemme guess this codec (which I haven't tried yet) doesn't actually play current QuickTime video?

      It plays, but it seems to contain the DLLs from a Quicktime install. It is just conveient because it does it for you without having to install the other players.

        And no matter which codec the file is encoded in, the program gives an error even if it is a wave file.
