You want something nForce3 based, then, I'd guess. One of the faster versions of the chipset. I saw a bunch at newegg for $50-$60.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Not necesseraly nForce 3, Via K8T800 Pro boards are also good.
I had a Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 nForce 3 board that I had to change due to some RAID problems and then I got an Asus A8V Deluxe (VIA) board. All I can say is that memory performance was 10% better on VIA and the same goes for RAID. Overclocking was better also, I managed to go from 2.4 to 2.5 GHz with my 3000+.
If you want a cheap mobo, try the Gigabyte K8NS-939, if you want a nice mobo go for the Asus A8V Deluxe or some Epox or MSI nForce 3 one.
