I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
I would still get screwed
Elie, are you trying to take your xbox out of the mix then? Why not just use it as a DVD player then?
Again, I'm not saying I don't get WHY you want it to be all-in-one. Still I can't fault Nintendo for actually making a profit on their hardware by not doing this. They don't have to pay a dvd license fee and they are able to use a drive that apparently can't handle constant playback. that kind of weirds me out but at the same time I have yet to hear about a dead drive in one of these things and I've lost track of how many dead xbox/xbox360/ps2 drives I've heard about. that and a slot loader that can handle both small and normal size discs is an engineering feat in of itself.... the fact that it probably can't handle longterm continuous reads... I can forgive that for overall reliablilty for what it was built for.
The fact that Nintendo is even using disc media is no small victory. they held off FOREVER to keep the pirates at bay. Also, as soon as they moved from cartridge to disc media people start complaining about it not doing more than playing games, they had to see that coming.
I wouldn't mind if it could play dvd's but I can live without it, again not knocking that you'd like the functionality and I totally understand your reasoning. On a side note if you ever have ANY problems with that Wii Nintendo will take care of you. One of my wiimotes was flakey about six months ago and they replaced it quickly and it didn't cost me ANYTHING shipping wise.

Thanks guys, I completely understand their position on the whole DVD/CD playback thing, and of coarse it's not the end of the world. I'm ordering it now and will keep the XBOX for DVD/CD playback and games.
I hope you like the Wii. It really is awesome to game on. Sorry if we got a little adamant

Question about the Wii's SD card slot. Once you put it on there, how does it come out?? Why do I ask? I placed one in there and taking it out doesn't seem to be easy (unlike in digital cameras or laptops, where you just press down the SD card and it springs back out)
RC Agent - That's actually exactly how it's suppose to work. It sounds like yours got stuck. You might have to use tweezers to get it out and then put it back in which will hopefully reset the spring. This is exactly what happened to an adapter I had for a mini-sd. If not I'd just call up Nintendo.

Well, Claymonkey copied me his Wii browser. Seems as if the browser is linked the the console it currently runs on. I'm not paying for a browser on my Wii.
