BSplayer (http://www.bsplayer.org/)
VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
MPC-HC (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/)
Zoom (http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml)
DivX (http://www.divx.com/)
Not all are totally free, but they at least have a free player version. VLC is the easiest for non-AV technical people to use, as all the CODECs are built in to it so there's no need to mess with third-party CODEC installations.“Inside every sane person there’s a madman struggling to get outâ€

I float between VLC and Allplayer myself..... http://www.allplayer.org/Better to let one think you are a fool, than speak and prove it

Thank you all. I have been using WMP and DirectVobSub to view subtitles, but recently I came across a couple of movies that would not play if DirectVobSub was in use. If the sub file was in the same folder with the movie the DivX file type in WMP will keep getting disactivated. Media Player Classic is not affected.
The reason that I have mentioned Kantaris is that it does not require installation. However it is very poor on file types.Last edited by Debbie; 13 October 2010, 22:35.We pass this way only once. Make the most of it !

VLC has DXVA for almost everything now, ATi and Nvidia support, and even Intel integrated to a point I think
I still prefer MPC-HC for the shaders, and have VLC as a backup.PC-1 Fractal Design Arc Mini R2, 3800X, Asus B450M-PRO mATX, 2x8GB B-die@3800C16, AMD Vega64, Seasonic 850W Gold, Black Ice Nemesis/Laing DDC/EKWB 240 Loop (VRM>CPU>GPU), Noctua Fans.

I'm haveng problems with highlighting in VLC. The highlight color changes to grey on the right of the screen. Perhaps I'm missing some setting ?Attached FilesWe pass this way only once. Make the most of it !
