I'm asking this question in complete sincerity: why should people who post "flamebait" get banned and those who proliferate the flamewar not be banned also?
And calling something flamebait is extremely subjective anyway. (In this case, I admit that it is obviously flamebait)

I mean, let's be honest, just say "those who support and defend Matrox can act like ****oles and those who don't and act like ****oles will be banned" (if that's the case). I would at least respect the honesty of an answer like that.

I am cracking down on this from now. If you don't like it tough, go somewhere else. Where did I say only those posting anti Matrox material will be banned? I didn't so get your facts straight before you start attacking me. Tombman from the start of this thread was trying to get Kruzin into a flame war. Those that start this shit will be banned whether they are pro or anti Matrox. If you don't like it then don't start this crap I'm am not going to see my hard work ruined by one or two complete idiots. If you don't like my policies on this then there are plenty of other forums please go to one of them.

The only problem I have with tombman (other than he was beeing an arse), is that he was given suggestions in his first post, and all he felt the need to do is tell us what a piece of crap the G400 MAX is, well I think that it is pretty obvious why people like this get banned.

Yes, I know I have been a few flames this month. Shame on me for going down there. I have not been involved in any sort of flame in the yr and 1/2 or so that I have been posting until lately. I had finally just gotten fed up with all of the B.S. from the same individuals. So I reacted. I am sorry if my behavior has upset anyone (apart from those who I intentionally pointed my anger to). 90 percent of my postings are to help people out with their hardware, or discuss hardware/software. That is where the difference comes in. These people that come in here posting this flamebait are usually the same. I remember LAMFTDK (sp?) when he was doing this crap, now he is a helpful member, and Kruzin sure flamed the hell out of him. The flaming actually turned him around (along with some sturn warnings and advice from others in the forum at the time).
It is up to tombman how he is going to deal with this, not anyone else.

I didn't attack you. I asked you a question.
I perceive a double standard in these forums. That's why I wanted a clarification. You gave me one and that's that.
I think ignoring flamebait would be a much better solution than banning those who "start trouble". But that requires everyone to have self control. I guess that simply isn't possible. This thread was obviously flamebait. Other threads, however, haven't been so clearcut. And the usual crew always jumps on the ass of the guy who posts something they find offensive. All I'm saying is that those who do this: personally attack others because they perceive a post as being unjustifiably negative about Matrox, should be banned also. It takes at least two sides to keep this crap going on and on. Ok, I've said what I wanted to say and that'll be the end of it on my end. Ant, again, I'm sorry if you think I'm attacking you.

I'd like to post what I feel is a generally held belief on this forum for its regular members. (My opinion, not flame bait)

If someone is vehemently anti-Matrox, they will clearly draw fire from those who use and enjoys Matrox products. That's what this forum is about: supporting people who use these products, and gossiping about other Matrox-related stuff.

It is rare to see someone who is pro-Matrox rubbing people here the wrong way. That's kind of the point of all this.

So if someone phrases a post in such a way as to put down a Matrox product, or its users, or even just brags about another non-Matrox video card, most of us would consider that flamebait. In the same way that no one could expect to walk into a Catholic church and listen to someone extoll the virtues of Satanism (ok, a bit extreme ).

Am I right?

Ant - If I were to start slagging everyone off here, be they a beta tester, a Matrox employee, a user or just anyone, I would be warned, then, if I continuesd, banned, wouldn't I?
Obviously it wouldn't do a lot of good for me, so I won't be doing this.

You're partially right. It has more to do with the way they present it. For example, just about any church, if you walk in and calmly ask for some sort of proof that there is, in fact, a God... they'll try to give it to you. You can argue, debate, etc. etc. without getting mean.

I was thinking...so I saw you CPU result in 3Dmark 99...about over 8400 I think...thats mean that U have atleast PII or PIII about 450 or 550 & OC..
I have PIII450@465 FSB103 and got about 7312..did U OC your Processor over FSB & set it on 133MHz..thats mean that AGP is not any more 66..it should be about 71Mhz ...The G400 is designed tu run on a normal AGP port setings & FSB100 & If u USED the dam POWERSTRIP and PUSHED the limits, you could DAMAGE the card it selff..RAMDAC,MEMORY,GRAPH-PROCESOR,CONTROLER on board G400 ewerything is afected with such HIGH rate Of 133 FSB settings & much higher rate of AGP settings..
