Uh, that's scary. I have the BE6 and a V770. I've been trying to find a G400 32 MB DH, or better yet, a G400 Max, in stock, to replace the V770. No luck so far.

But ... this problem sounds a little ominous. Does it appear to be limited to the BH6, or does it show up in BE6 motherboards as well?

Alright... I have FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM!!

It has nothing to do with the motherboard, drivers, or anything like that! The problem lies in my friggin' Monitor!!

I brought back the system from work (the one where the card actually worked in) and hooked it up to my monitor... and it gave me the "adapter error blah blah blah" error. So, I plugged in the monitor I brought home from work and PRESTO it works!! So the problem lies in my monitor!!

That explains why I never got any monitor properties with my G200! But, I don't get why a monitor can work with one card but not the other... here's the monitor

      KTX 15" SVGA
      Max res. 1280x1024 @ 60hz

I just bought the thing like feb/mar... weird, eh?

Pfew! You must be feeling better now. Looks like your KTX PnP control is messed up.

Did you try selecting your KTX monitor in PowerDesk with the other monitor still connected and then swap monitors?

About the possible BH6 problem: it's just that. There are a bunch of people reporting similar problems, not sure if they are all using BH6. I know some do, but I do not know what the others are using. It's not clear yet, in the end we may find it has nothing to do with the BH6. Maybe we're all using LGS RAM... could be anything really.

The BH6 is a popular board, you're bound to find a BH6 user sharing your problem, be it insomnia, eclipse blindness or a crashing video card.

Yeah, exactly. I was thinking maybe there was some kind of crazy incompatibility with my Maxtor HD, or my Celeron 366, but then... the monitor. The weird thing is, it doens't even work as a secondary monitor!! !!Well, looks like I'll have to make the swap with someone.

Thanks all for all your help!!! Maximumus Appreciatus. *grin*

              Hi,

You are not alone. I'm new to this newsgroup. My thoughts...
I have read alot about the G400. Got one in the mail a few days ago myself and was just as excited as you, ripped the box open and installed it in my PII celeron 366/458oc running Windows 98, rebooted, detected, installed the new drivers and BOOM!! the driver install blew up. Finally got it running after going through all the stuff you did, format, reinstall, etc.Only the Bump mapping doesn't seem to work. Matrox tech support doesn't seem to be much help since the last e-mail where I told them that I was already using the latest, greatest MB bios, vid. bios, etc. So here I am with a brand spanking new G400 32MB waste of AGP space. Using Voodoo 2 for my 3D. One thing I've observed is that alot of people having probs are running Win98 SE as I am (Can DirectX ver. 6.1a be the culpret?) :-(

Hmm.. I've had A G200 in an overclocked (400->450) BH6 system since January, and I don't think I've had a single graphics problem that can't be put down to overheating. I really want a MAX, but most places in the UK are quoting huge waits, which basically means "we don't know when we'll get any", so I was gonna get a bog standard OEM G400. News of problems is a little worrying.. anyone had any problems with BX6s?

I had G200 on BH6, worked just fine.
Now I've owned G400 OEM Single head about a month, and only "problem" worth mentioning has been that I had to force 2xAGP.

Well, I got a dual-head standard G400 today.. initially nothing but problems with my BH6 system. It would lock, corrupt the BIOS setting screens, and occasionally disappear as far as the motherboard was concerned. I flashed the motherboard BIOS to whatever's latest (LN?) and all problems have gone away.. well, nearly. Still the odd hang, but I'm not sure that's anything to do with the graphics system. So.. it does work

                            Hi SockBoy

This might sound stupid but have you tried to uncheck the "Automatically detect Plug & Play monitors." setting?

The weird thing is, whenever I try to boot up with the monitor giving me problems, there is only one tab under advanced properties (can't remember which one). So, I can't change anything that has to do with my monitor. I might check that out, though. Try swapping monitors after boot-up and stuff. The monitor I'm forced to use now is really bad. 60hz at 1024x768... It'd be good for a secondary monitor, though.
