G400 And Win 2K conflict

I just did a clean installation of win 2k. I installed the latest drivers (5.03.025) after the setup. When I rebooted, it goes as far as the win 2k splash screen... the blue bar on the bottom part moves 100%, then my monitor goes to stand by. I cant do anything after that... totally blank monitor, and I don’t get any response when I bang on the keyboard.

I tried the beta drivers too (5.10.012), but I get the same sh!t.

Right now, I'm running on NT4 drivers that came with the Matrox cd (weird eh?). NT4 drivers work on win 2k, but win 2k drivers don’t on win 2k... This is the second time this happened.. I screwed up my system the last time this happened.

Anyone have any suggestions? I reinstalled over and over again... something's wrong.

Heard of a similar problem, turned out to be a CPU temperture sensor issue, the system thought it was running very very hot and shutdown.

SSP, have you tried a reinstall? If you installed the NT4 drivers you have probably completely hosed your driver subsystem.

People with Sound Blaster cards had the same problem. The NT4 drivers worked, but ended up screwing over their driver system so they had to do a reinstall before the Win2k drivers worked.

Just a thought.
