No hit of any immenent graphics card release, atleast with nVidia you know you will get one every 6 months.
Personally, i was surprised to see that question about poor customer service. Apart from that it was a wasted oppurtunity for a good intereview.

Read, it helps.

If you went to the forums you can see the original question sheet, there were 4 questions regarding future cards. They did not answer them.

But you can post comments in there and Matrox reps are reading them.

bacon: I disagree!

Originally said by Dan Wood (VP Matrox marketing):

The last thing I would say to our loyal fan base is that we are a quiet company but we have over 400 engineers devoted to cutting edge graphics research and we will continue to lead and bring innovative new products to market.
While this is in no way a direct announcement, it is a hint. Note also that he never says they'll leave or have left the gaming market, which is a hint that they have intention to re-enter it someday (although not with the G550 - which by the way will be fast enough for my gaming needs, if the rumored stats are correct).

Consider these quotes:

With the G450 series we are giving our consumers exactly

and

There are many differing technologies that we are currently evaluating

and

We are watching the Imagination Technology offering with interest

these dont inspire confidence that they are realising anything anytime soon. Atleast not there own technology.

Sorry az, but I think you're clutching at straws. I'd love to be wrong about this, but the G550 sounds pretty lack-lustre if the 'leaks' are at all accurate.

I'll probably wait for the Radeon SE to come out. If Matrox comes up with an announcement of something good by then I might wait, but I'm not holding my breath.

Post it there so Matrox can read these comments! They are not going to read anything you are gonna post here. They have agreed to read, so let them know!

Bugblatt:

I don't say the G550 will be a hardcore gamer's dream, but I think it'll be fast enough for me. And I think Matrox has an intention to re-enter the gaming market (and as I said, NOT with this chip, the G550 will be a business solution that seems to be fast enough for my gaming needs).

So I talked of two different things:

a) Matrox has the intention to re-enter the gaming market sometime AFTER the G550. The G550 ill be a business solution.

b) Although the G550 will be a business solution, it looks to be fast enough for me.

comments, questions, flames?

sonia102,

Your wrong. Matrox reps will see it if it is here. There are alot of Matrox's people that monitors these forums. There are also several of us that are beta testers for Matrox. When we see something that may be of interest we let Haig, who is the tech support manager, know and he will usually point anyone else to the post that he thinks should see it.

Why are matrox reps taking an interest now? It would seem strange to get feedback from an interview which didn't reveal much.
Also, if they are going to release a graphics card soon, whats the point of getting feedback once the card is complete?

Because they keep getting feedback from businesses....they want feedback from users...(the G550 is not aimed at consumers, it is aimed at businesses).

"The interview did not reveal much": That is Matrox's problem, they chose to beat around the bush.

Chaps, this might seem a little off topic but why did they ask Matrox about Voxel acceleration? Is it something that is expected to take off in the near future?
