    Yep.

One wonders if perhpas the original clock generator was too fast for the card to run stable... or unavailable... or something like that...

The wires are a normal process in making hardware. All it means is that the board had a few minor probs that they needed to fix and instead of spending money on brand new PCB's, they just rewired the ones they had. This saves substantial costs as the engineering samples sent to various locations are usually 10 times the amount of the production board.

Hmm I've seen these very same wires on Hard drives (SCSI ones at that!), but I believe that they'll be gone by the time the board hits production
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Hmmm....wonder why the source of the card wasn't careful to cover the barcode? Oops!

                      Man, sure they could...

Even I can tell you a LOT about this particular board just by looking at the barcode:

                      - It's a Matrox board
                      - It features the Parhelia-512 chip
                      - It has 64/128 MB of DDR (the bars about this one were a little fussy)
                      - it sports triplehead and surround gaming
                      - The RSN function is disabled (will not be integrated on any cards due to the fact that yields on RSN chips were extremely low...)
                      - The green wire you see is actually a small heatpipe for the clock generator: the CG runs very hot due to the fact that is uses Kryptonite instead of quartz)
                      - Overclocking this card will cause a positive graviton flow which will result in the space-time around it being warped so that the retarded wave will be dampered( in english: overclock this card and you'll be able to see the movement of you opponents in CS before they actually do them...)
                      - An finally, with the Addition of the "Parhelibot(tm)" kit, this board will be able to perform the basic tasks usually performed by a maid, a cook, a lawyer AND a hooker
(Matrox forecasts very strong sales in the young-male-teenager-with-no-social-abilities market )

See, I told you a lot could be read from those barcodes...

Edit - Regarding the athlonxp site, they never got the board from us so whatever review they may be posting, I wouldn't take it too seriously for now

                        cal

looks like we are going to start with the watered down version of the board ................. only 128 meg ram and not all the pieces on the card
