Gigabyte has a Windows tool called EasyTune 4 that lets you change CPU multiplier, system bus, AGP/CPU/memory voltage, AGP/CPU/DRAM clock settings (linear, divider or async modes) on the fly out of windows. And it runs voltage, temperature and fan monitors with threshold settings. It came with my board, so I don't know if it works on anything else.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
Actually with the AMD K6-2+ and K6-3+ chips there were a few utilities to change the multiplier on the fly, since those chips had the power saving thing to lower the clock for laptops when idle.. and it ended up being good for overclockers for desktops
yeah I have played with k6-3+ and it does do the multiplier changes on the fly.
But I have never heard of multiplier changing on the fly for desktop chips
...not kidding. Haven't used all the functions yet, still getting my system revamp the way I want it. Parhelia is on the plan, but waiting for the 256.
