After deciding to bite the bullet and buy the game, I must say, how sad. Now, I still play Midtown Madness 1 and have fun, v=even in the cruising mode. I normally run it at 1024x768x32 and it plays very smoothly and looks very nice. Now 2 is here and first of all, the graphics look EXACTLY the same, yet the engine doesnt seem to support 32 bit color anymore, AND even worse, I have to crank res down to 800x600x16 for it to be decent. It still gets very choppy if I have a view of the city from a hill.
It has 2 city's. San Francisco and London. I only been to Frisco before, but the map is actually pretty close. But the sensation of speed is lost sicne you have to crank low res to get decent frame rates, and there there is not enough detail to look good. Just a sad state of affairs. Also the physics engine has been loosened even more so (it's "adjustable" in only the broadest sense of the word) your literally bouncing all over the aplce.
All in all a disapointing sequel. It should have been at lEAST as fun as the first one, but the gfx engine just got screwed up big time and it ruins the game.
