Did it fix any of the video problems in HL with Matrox G400 cards (i.e. textures with beta 6 video drivers)? Probably not I bet.

I have NO (except when exiting to menu, then returning) problems with textures using those drivers. You must be using TGL if you are getting texture problems.

Why would Valve fix that? It sounds like a driver/config issue to me. Oh, and since I don't have the problems either, I'm banking on it being your config.

I meant going to menu in the middle of the game, and coming back to the game where things get corrupted in mods, Opposing Force, etc. Those texture flickers... Is that glitch still there in v1.1.0.4?

Antdude, that's a setup problem. Not sure what is causing it - check your AGP driver and try different versions of the matrox drivers.

I used to get that but then updated Windows, dropped down to 5.41 and installed a new AGP driver (VIA) and no longer see it. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you what fixed it.

antdude, I have the same problem with the ICD. So I use TurboGL No noticable performance difference, and I don't get any texture corruption with TurboGL. But using TurboGL with Win9x 6.x results in no flashlight

                      Wow, it sucks!

The solder is now weak, the eng is hard to going with out serious cover and the only classes that seem to be used in force now are the pyro, hw, sniper and spy. Mostly pyro and hw. The game play and balance have shifted so much that a bunch of us that play together are all stopping and moving over to cs. I must say that I am disapointed in the degree of change and I hope this is not an indacation of what the balance is going to be like in TF2. Oh and I really could see little to no change in the hw. Lastly, WTF is up with the weapons nocking everyone around the map. I know you could to some degree before, but damn, now you have to chase down your pray after each shot. One not so well placed rocked and the other player is accross the map and they take more damage from the fall then from the rocket.

So the gameplay balance has shifted again?

Duty, I feel your pain, the people that I used to play with split after the TF1.5 patch. It made the game literally unplayable for some (removal of 320x200 software res) and the rest of us didn't like the new class 'balance'. Good servers limit numbers of certain classes. That didn't happen before and should tell everyone that something is wrong

Are Valve trying to get rid of everyone that plays this game?

I may just have to fire up the old GLquake and play some good old TF (no C, no II). Or, there's always CS.

                            Duty,

Before you leave TFC, please find a good server to play on. I've been playing for nearly 2 years. I've lived thru the changes of 1.5 and these are NOWHERE close to that.

Pyro is beefed up and we'll see lots of them until the novelty wears off.

HW have been taken down a notch at MEDUIM distance only. Close range, they still own, far away, they're sniper bait.

Other than that, I haven't noticed any other changes. What about the soldier do you think has changed?

At any rate, I hope you don't leave TFC for CS. The cheaters are gonna be beat for about 30 seconds with this new CRC check (and a sad one at that).

Well I played around on a bunch of different maps (new and old) and servers finding that there seem to be other changes then just the reported. I am not a bad player (having only started late this summer) but feel like I am back to square one. There seem to be either environmental changes or a change to the way explosives work. Rockets and grenades now knock people around like ragdalls. Snipers now can shoot you in the foot and kill every time. There are other changes as well and really I am tired of so many cheeters. I will most likely still play from time to time but not as much. I'll see after a few weeks if I still like the game but my first reaction was "This sucks but the new maps are nice"

lastly I agree with the question of why we (server admins) need to set limits on classes if the game is in balance?

                              Later all,

                              Jeff
