  • Decals Flicker in UT

I've been noticing lately that the large decals (such as rocket burns) will flicker on certain wall areas. I don't know for sure when I started noticing this -- maybe with the 4.28 UT version. The Z-buffer problem is certainly better since this version. (I'm currently running 4.36)

I know that in Half Life there is a config setting (gl_polyoffset ?) that fixes the decal flicker. Does anyone know of an equivalent UT setting?

I think everyone has this problem. It's been an ongoing issue since D3D became an issue with Unreal and G200s.

32-bit Z-buffer helps a lot in UT but the decals still flicker. There just isn't any way to fix it yet, at least that I know of.

Are 'detail textures' on in the advanced prefences? I"ve not noticed any flickering since about 428 and turning that off.

It could just be me mind.

Even with 'detail textures' off there is flickering. DM-Deck16][ (long rooms) seems to be a good map to test the flickering.

Deck 16][ is the map where I notice it the most as well. Oh well, at least I'm not the only one seeing this. Strange though, I never really noticed it until a few weeks ago.

I must say that I have small Z-Buffer probs in Quake 3 too, and in Vampire. I can see thru stuff in certain camera perspectives. Other thing that annoys me a little bit is small dots on the vector wireframe in some games. It´s not from overclocking. Someone elese noticed this?
