  • CS - yes again! >D

    Hi!

    Enough of the small talk

Whenever i play cs on my computer in opengl mode IN multiplayer(modem)the game ALWAYS freezes within 5mins into the game!

This NEVER happens when i play HL or with cs bots in ogl and D3D mode in multiplayer.

For me the quick fix is to use D3d in multi BUT i don't get to see decals in this mode!

This is not that much of importance BUT i'd like to know WHY it never works in ogl in multi?!??!?

    I got cel333, MGA-G200, 192MB, PCI64

I got latest software, drivers etc (DX8)
I never run any progams in the background.

    I just find this WEIRD!!

as for the interrupts i will post it later once i find out how.

(note: i ONLY get this prob in ogl multi mode)

I once had this problem when I was using a dial-up connection...it would ONLY appear in MP/OGL mode, and ONLY when I was on-line via my dial-up.

M fixed the prob when I was on dial-up, but since then I moved to a cable hook, and have not had the prob since. I have linked this thread to the M beta list, in case there is a link between the probs I had when I was on dial-up, and yours....

Oh....and for your quick-fix D3D playing....Go to the console and type "gl_polyoffset -0.1" (without the "") to make decals visable...

              Thanks Kruzin. Your highness!
You DID have the same problem!

someone here once said that D3d in multiplayer is 'choppy' - IS this true???

Liquid Snake, this is what happens when i follow Jordan's method for irqs: "cannot find the file 'msinfo32'(or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

But here are some irqs if anybody is INTERESTED:

              MGA-G200 irq11
              (with the following conflicts -
              Memory Range E8000000 - E8FFFFFF used by:
              PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
              Memory Range E4000000 - E4003FFF used by:
              PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
              Memory Range E5000000 - E57FFFFF used by:
              PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge)

              SBPCI64 irq10

              Keyboard 1
              Mouse 12

              Modem is on COM1 (irq4)

              um,
              IDE controller is 14

              Printer 7

              Floppy disk controller is 6

              and this is getting boring...

Guess i gotta stick to D3d until i get Cable/dsl AFTER i finish high school and get married and have children and finish university and become a software engineer and have my own house and....

Well, HL is an OpenGl game and uses a wrapper to translate OGL commands into D3D commands. That takes some time and can cause choppyness. Also it has been reported that the picture quality in D3D is below par, can't second that though. Therefore, if at all possible play in OGL. But you already knew that, i guess

                Regards

Hahaha - some reason to go to college!

six of one i didn't know that ogl was faster than d3d - since hl, i always assumed that d3d was more faster and stabler. well now that evrythings put into perspective i guess you are right
