good health to all, you sound about right. I had to test out a MX card the other day, and it was just an old(from nov last year) card, not one of the new MX400 cards. It was approx 1300 3DMarks, and 11 or 12 fps faster in Quake3. And Mech4 was smooth with everything maxed in 1024x768x16. It was playable in 32bit, but choppy when in heavy action. My G400 is playable in 1024x768x16 at about medium settings. But still choppy if the battles get too intense. I love my G40032meg, but it is just too slow to really be useful with todays games. Slightly older games are totally fine. Any Quake3 based games, Mig Alley, WW2 Fighers, Janes F/A 18, Janes USAF, etc, are all fine, but more modern games are hard on this fine old card. I can't bring myself to replace it with an MX400 card tho, its like replacing a trusty, slightly older Mercedes or Porshce with a hopped up hunk of junk. The big-block in the hunk of junk will make it faster, but it will be hot, cold, uncomfortable, a gas hog, ugly, rough, etc.

I have G400 since it is avaible. I had for a while GF2MX in my machine but I sold it and bought G400 again because of lausy 2D. Regarding Q3, in 1024*32 with all set to max I had 30 fps regardless to processor. That is normal and you cant get much more with regular G400. I am sure that my system is OK. GF2 managed about 50 in same res. Forgot to mention that was year ago, with no patch for Q3. Although average frame rate of MX was good, in gameplay there was major slovdowns so it wasnt running smooth.
I did not even tried to run higher res, whats the use of slideshow in q3. In 800*32 G400 managed to do over 50 FPS with all set to max except billinear instead of trillinear filtering, and with no major slowdowns.

He can gain some fps only in 800 or lower res. Thats the fact, why are you all ignore it? I like and have G400, but lets be real. It is good but rather prehistoric card those days especially if you want to play new games in high res..
However, you definately DO get an increase in FPS by upping the CPU speed at 800x600x16 - the res I play most games in.Athlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.
