  • WarCraft III gone GOLD!!!

For all your RTS fans out there, here is the official press release:

I've played the beta some, and it's quite impressive. I've already order the Geek Edition...I mean, Collector's Edition from EBWorld.com, because they add a poster and an additional DVD, and the price was average.

Hopefully this will hold me over until C&C: Generals comes out. Big C&C fan, too.

just played it for 3 hours straight

damn it really is good. my old g400 16MB plays it very well at 800x600x32 with all details maxed (textures at medium). but i kinda want a parhelia now

they already got about 5 million preorders, and i'll buy it anyway because as usual you need a key, which can not be generated, for battle.net

Yeah, that's really a great way to make sure enough people are buying your product - battle.net is a great service, though

THey better add more bandwidth and servers with however many millions of players are jumping on.

BTW, when a game goes gold, that means the production version of the game is done, and the 'gold master' CD has been sent to the factory for reproduction.

As opposed to the "Gold Edition" of games which come out a couple of years after initial release, with lots of extra stuff and a lower price. Too bad it isn't the same thing.. I'd love to have a totally mature WC3 with lots of extras for $30.

BTW, thank God they started putting games in those more compact boxes. takes up a lot less bookshelf space.

Got it yesterday, finished humans this morning.
It's crashing too often on my rig though.

what system do you got Admiral? no problems at all here (system in sig). finished undead in the meanwhile and 5th campaign on the orcs. the undead remind me of the zerg. and i like that all 4 races (have not played elves yet) are quite different but well balanced still.

P3 650@900 (putting it back to 650 doesn't solve it), 384 SDRAM, MSI BX mobo and a GF3 Ti200 128mb (using detonators 28.32 in both 98 SE and XP Pro).

                              Ohhhhh, I LOVE this game

Not one crash so far on my system (Duron 750 on an ECS K7S5A, 3D Prophet 4500 (Kyro II), 256 MB DDR), though it's a bit slow. Tried to start the editor once, system hung. Haven't bothered since, playing is way too much fun

Ah yes Thop: No need anymore for sending it to me
