But there will be at least a few games that are available now like:

    elite force
    b 17 flying fortress
    collin mcrae rally 2.0(gorgeous looking)

And of course the one i provided the link to,that will push the G400 to it's limits and beyond(especially the last one).

And by that time hopefully Matrox should have their next product ready and surprise everybody.

      Joel

And BTW Elite Forces looks and plays great on the G450. I'm sure it will be even better on the G800(?).

My god, some of you sound like a bunch of MCSE characters.

If Greebe worked at matrox and he developed a chip that would give you quad out, motion comp and hardware mpeg 2 capture. Nvidia then gets a headhunter to get Greebe over.

Is this legal? Yes or no.

But, Gino, it's fine. It's okay for a company to invest millions into exclusive features to only have them raped from them by unethical recruiting. Don't you know? That's called "The Real World". We are just supposed to stand by blindly and accept this is reality, hell we should even support such a company, right?

yes, they'll be out, but how long until the patches come out making them run correctly? (the games)
and do you need to run them immediately at the highest rez you're monitor can do?

There is so much of that going on in the industry that, right or wrong, has become common practice.

The days when anyone worked for a company(in any industry)for 20+ years are long gone.

I'd say the blame lies both on nvidia's recruitement policies and also on whoever they're interested in.

After all no one is forcing that employee to take the offer,it's a decision that belongs to him/her,so the guilt falls on both sides.

Every one looks out for themselves first and foremost, why should it be any different with graphics card companies.

Let's face it,qualified people with lot's of experience are very much in high demand in the high tech sector and there obviously aren't enough to go around for everyone, otherwise we woudn't see those kind of practices.

again, common practice does not make it "ok"

When a law gets broken more frequently, the way to slow it is to come down harder on the abusers.

I'm not disputing the fact that it may be illegal or not.

All i'm saying is that if said employee chooses to leave because they may find it more beneficial to work for some else, then they can.

it's a fundamental right that everyone has and no one can change that.

By your way of thinking then, once an employee starts working in one of these companies, that means he/she's there for life whether they like it not???.

Gimme a break,if any of these company's has the misfortune to fall on hard times, and if your job is in any way redundant, they won't even hesitate to get rid of any personel as needed.

i've been working for over 15 years now(yup,i'm that old.. ),and i've seen it happen far too many times.

Nobody owes anything to anyone when it comes to earning a living, they hire the best, most qualified personel but they can't honestly expect to hold on to them if there's a better, higher paying job waiting for them.

But there is one major difference between (insert any menial labor job) and engineeers, EE's are normally bound by an NDA and or non competition agreement that's signed before one actually starts to work at one of these companies. Additionally it's "may or may not be illegal", it is illegal, PERIOD.

The fact that your insistent need to "prove" to us what U think is true is completely futile and shows us what we see in typical youngins that have very little experience in either computers, business and or life.

Since none of us can influence your ideological view of the world, why should we answer you in our normal helpful way? You won't accept our word in what reality is and how that pertains to this discussion. :\

                        superfly,
What kind of work are you doing? In your example, since Greebe would have done all this development @ Matrox, he can't give any of that information to nVidia. It's Matrox's information. That's why Matrox is after nVidia: Engineers are taken by nVidia from Matrox, nVidia magically has TwinView.

This is from a while back, but
                        Storm:
                        >T&L should be standard however. It's NOT hard to integrate it,

Why do you think this is true? Do you have any idea what is involved in processor design?

Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

ever heard of the s3 Savage 2000 ?

It had hardware T&L support, but it was too buggy to be properly implemented by the drivers... so they just gave up on it.

I can't see Matrox doing such things, so I think they will wait to release the G800 untill they are sure everything works just fine... if that takes some extra time, then it is fine for me!

Well, its not quite that simple. In the US, an employee can not be denied his/her right to employment in their field (despite NDAs and non-compete clauses). I think that the company (Matrox in this case) has to prove that confidential information or technology was used by the company that hired it's former engineers. I imagine that this case is complicated by the fact the Nvidia is a US company and Matrox is Canadian. At the very least, once lawyers are involved _nothing_ is simply legal or illegal

In the US, luring entire groups for one company to another becoming more common. Sometimes this results in law suit, sometimes not.

I wonder if Matrox' loss of EEs delayed the G450 and G800?

I recently read that TSMC will have its .13um process in production soon (Nvidia and 3dfx use TSMC). I think NEC does Matrox' chips. Is this the case for the g800 and what kind of process capability does NEC have right now (excluding RAM, obviously)?

                              Thanks,

                                Re: Games benifiting from GeSpot

Rags, you mentioned showing you some games that benefit from the GF and it made me think! I know EMBM has been a major success compared to T&L (especially considering, as Matrox PR would say, T&L is an easier sell), but what about all this CPU load relief?

I'm curious as to whether Quake 3 will run better when I'm playing against 15 bots because of a T&L engine? This is hard to benchmark I'd think - maybe a CPU load guage during a game? Timedemo's will give the same scores as other cards but the CPU might be doing less in a non GF system? Can anyone compare 2 similar cards - one with T&L and one without T&L and see if it does make a difference in these situations?

                                Thanks,
