I really thought this story was closed.

Well, my second Toshiba modem also went bad. I got a third. (Great service, overnighting replacements - too bad the products have been lousy).

I called @Home to see about getting the new modem provisioned. I actually have a knowledgeable tech, and he told me I could take it to my local cable office.

Why didn't they tell me this before!?!?!

Off to cable office with the new modem. In and out in a few minutes. New modem was working when I got home and plugged it in.

    Tell your friends.

You have to be kidding me!

Why don't they tell the stupid tech support guys that that is an option? We all have offices near by.

Sheesh. Stupidity on parade. No wonder they are going bankrupt.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. Since I have a Toshiba modem now I may need it (if your experience is typical).

BTW: I have the PCX1100U. What do you have?

I've heard those were POS modems and most @Home providers were dropping them like flies.

When I had @Home I had one... it sucked

I keep wishing I had bought the Linksys. Can't do anything about it now.
