Cool, they're rereleasing Alien his Halloween, and supposedly is going to have "never before seen in DVD or VHS release" scenes. Can't verify the part about the new scenes, but it does seem certain that it is really being rereleased according to my "industry sources."

I'll just wait for the "special edition director's cut" to be released on DVD. No matter how many deleted scenes they add, it will still be the same story with the same ending. Hardly worth a trip to the theater for (just like the Star Wars SE flics wheren't worth going to).Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s

Page cannot be found. I guess the Alien ate it.
Can't see the point really. Shows theres not much imagination around at present.

I'm still waiting for the Das Boot mini seriesto be released for theaters. BTW, does anyone know if it's out on DVD? (The mini series, being over 4 hours long, not the shortened theater version)

I guess I won't have much trouble finding a good seat if nobody else seemed to think Alien was a decent movie.
I too would love to see the Das Boot on the big screen, although I don't know if people would want to watch the entire miniseries (which I regretfully have never seen) in one sitting.

I must admit I've never seen the cinema version, but the miniseries never felt long to me, so I wouldn't know what to take away.

I would pay to see Alien in the theatre. Didn't get to see it that way the first time (given I was only one year old) and it's one of my favorite movies.
Seemed like a turning point in the role women played in action movies, and from what I've seen in documentaries on the film, the decision to make Sigourney (Ripley) the start was quite controversial within the studio. So I think a nice look back for the younger generation would be good, given there are so few movies of the caliber in the same genre as Alien (and so few that don't end up being really "cheesy").
And yes, seeing Das Boot (the mini-series) released in theatres would be cool, though I think the younger generation (the target audience anymore) would completely ignore it, sadly.“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

I don't think they'd ignore it - they watched K-19, which was really not very good.
