          if you have a concrete slab floor you'll have no issues, but (you said no basement) if there is a crawlspace you might not have enough support for 1.75 tons of localized weight.
          Better to let one think you are a fool, than speak and prove it

              Cheers lads!

              KvH: The problem with those sort of stands is that they are usually made of chipboard and then laminated. This is kinda ok, but as soon as the chipboard gets wet, which it will, then it expands.

              I am looking for somthing five foot wide that can support a weight of over 400kgs without a central pillar inside.

              Dil: I am sure that the floor could take it, but I would have to distribute the weight evenly over the floor.

                Have you considered a metal frame using maybe 1" section, and a smaller wooden cabinet to sit in it? I could probably get it welded up for you...
