EDIT: Scroll to the end of the post to see the current "for consideration" list!
Ok, here's the situation - Julie and I were utterly unprepared for the news that it was a boy (again). We do NOT have a boy's name ready - although we DO have time.
So... we're opening up for suggestions, since our "baby name" books haven't given us CRAP (and wouldn't have last time for Logan, either - he's in one of them as "so popular that it's on its way out", funny that I haven't seen any other Logans... oh well).
Here are the rules:
1. We ARE serious here. We're not promising to go with your name choice, we're just looking for more choices.
2. The name must not suck. "Norbert" is already RIGHT OUT.
3. No bizarrely ethnic names. Shaneequa, Rashad, or Achmed... big NO.
4. No plain names. John, James, Michael, Robert, Matthew, etc. etc. are RIGHT OUT.
5. It has to work with the last name (Goldovitz) and the middle name (LOTR character to be determined). So no "G" names. No Gillis, Gerald, or Guggenheimer. We like Gabriel but we just can't do the "GG" thing to our child.
6. We're looking for something a little off the beaten path... but not a mile off. No "Apple", "Scout", "Hunter", "Diamond", or "Giraffe".
And last but not least, names that we've already negged and which will put you on our "ignore" list:
- Balthazar
- Balzac
- Norbert
- Humphrey
- Hiram
- Reginald
(You get the idea!)
---------------------------------
So, fire away! We'll keep you posted as we pontificate, and he/she who suggests the winning name will get a special prize (perhaps a vial of the baby's first spittle or something)!
----------- UPDATED CONSIDERATION LIST -------------
So, some names we're CURRENTLY considering (or haven't written off entirely):
- Elliot/Elliott
- Simon
- Malcolm
- Marcus (Julie likes it, I don't...)
- Sebastian
- Alaric
- Aeric
- Rhys
Some names we'd love to use but just don't think go with Goldovitz:
- Ewan
- Gabriel
- Duncan
- Donovan
- Aidan
- Gavin
- Garrett
- Gareth
- Alaistair
(are you seeing a Gaelic trend here?)
