i found Signs absolutely hilarious. i can watch that movie over and over again. I actually caught the village on cable earlier today watching it for the 2nd time. and i sorta liked it better the second time around. i think it would have been better if he would have held out on the twist a little longer. but then hey waht can you do.

Ok, I'm thinking back and I might have initially thought that... no, I'm pretty sure I thought the old people were dead first. Hrm. And I _knew_ the husband was dead when he showed up. No doubts there.

Didn't Nicole's character talk to or meet with some minister at one point? Or something? No wait, she tried to leave the house and go to town... and ran into the husband? Ahh I'll have to watch it again, I forget.

Which twist? The "we all live in a little fantasy world" twist or the "demons are really our parents" twist? Julie was scared WITLESS when even after she knew the "truth" she was attacked anyway. Hot damn, she got clingy after that.

Exactly, once she left the house she was very quickly lost in fog. (ghosts are "imprinted" to the place?) Which could beg the question...how come old people weren't lost? (well, in reality they could be; but for some time you had the impression they were running the house so that would require trips)
          Blah, doesn't matter anyway

Well that's why it's shocking. You ASSUME lots of things. You ASSUME that groceries arrive. You ASSUME that the cleaning gets done, laundry hung out, etc. But in reality nobody leaves, nobody does anything.

Yep, things that are normal at first sight...but not quite in reality are perhaps most scary...

But I find MKS refreshing. I loved Signs even though the entire alien premise was retarded. I loved The Village, in spite of the silly twists... which IMHO weren't THAT silly. I _really_ loved Unbreakable. And of course everyone loved The Sixth Sense... but not Haley Joel Donny Osmond.
At the last theater that I went to which was to see Star Wars ROTS, they had live commercials with a bad Yoda impression. They gave one of the ushers a fracking microphone. :shakes head:

I really liked The Sixth Sense and The Village. The way the atmosphere was created... they were scary moments pure based on suggestions.
(the scene in The Sixth Sense where Bruce Willis finds out the truth is still chilling)

Signs started out well (same tension building, mystery plot), but once the aliens were shown it lost most of its appeal. The movie really went downhill from that point. Still, there are worse movies...
