Not all evil. To say that is a great underestimation of human kind.
Interesting video indeed. I think she's jewish :d
Anyway, it's to bad they made a number of cuts. I am always extremely interested in what was cut out.

Nah, humanity is the root of all evil. Religion is just a tool that certain evil people use to accelerate and magnify their evilness. To say all religion is evil would be like saying all animals are carnivorous. But that's an arguement for another forum...
Anyway, just like there are bad religions and religious people, there are bad atheists and anti-religious groups. It's just the way people tick. Unfortunately.

Its just not all believers that are evil.
Nor do all believers do evil.
Its just that, on average, religion isnt helping, its hindering.
Watch Richard Dawkins epic masterpiece: The Root of All Evil.
Oh, and notice the the above statements are purely seen from a scientific viewpoint.
(And scientists are such bothersome creatures, since they say what they think they can prove and think they can prove what they say. And if You prove them wrong, they only get happier!).
If Religion were the root of all evil then all evil requires Religion to be at its "root".
There are certainly plenty of "evil" acts of history that were done outside of the context of Religion so therefore your thesis is flawed.
LOL
Not all religions hinder either. Many have and do, but not all. Your generalizing all religions into one big pot when religions are just as diverse and the cultures of the world. Look at the buddhists ... they really don't hinder much of anything, and really aren't evil.

Nothing to laugh about. That is indeed the refutation of the original hypothesis.

Of course the real proof that DukeP's thesis is invalid is how many religious people have been killed by atheists or the functional equivalent (Stalin, Mao etc. etc. etc.) over the years.
I suppose these a**holes were "good" and were just cleansing their nations of potential "evildoers"?

I've never considered "Religion" mutable that way. I'm not convinced it is.
But assuming that its definition could be so flexible, the original hypothesis becomes meaningless doesn't it? It certainly loses all of its profoundness.
And of course you'd now be obligated to debate the meaning of the relative term "evil".

Personally I don't consider all relligion to be evil, I just don't like the elements that impose in relligion, with absolute and radical sanctions on not following all elements/paths of that relligion.
Some relligions have more of that and some less and some are just absurd and maybe close to "evil", like the cult of personality exposed previously, either at a state level or in smaller groups (following a guru/sect).
If this were the case you could call science a religion, too. And that would make school teachers who teach science evil! In which case my 7th grade science teach truly was a hell-spawn! I KNEW IT!
What subject do you teach again, Duke?
