Yeah, but that's what liquor stores are for. The 3.2% stores are holdovers from when many states would allow people 18-20 to purchase alcoholic beverages that were 3.2% or less. Now the drinking age is 21 for anything, everywhere, but the supermarkets still sell the weak stuff.

Personally, I'm not too impressed with the crappy Canadian beer we get down here, either, but I assume you make some decent stuff as well. Lately I've been drinking American brews from Pyramid, Rogue, New Belgium....

Interestingly enough, the only Canadian stuff I find down in the U.S. IS the crappy stuff (Molson Golden, Labbatts Blue), but that's what the bulk of the population drinks here anyway

Ahhh...not that bad in such case.
BTW, one bear here still beats the one from Zokes - 9,1 % (Hevelius Kaper if you're curious, might be available overseas)
(edit: however if I would have to recommend some, try Zywiec, Debowe Mocne, Tyskie, Lech Pils (Pils, not Premium! Even if it's probably impossible to buy, heck, it can be bought only in one area of PL), in that order)

You have federal law dealing with that?

Sure. Plenty of Supreme Court rulings on the extents and limits of police powers. Why exactly are you so insistent on telling me what my country's laws are like?

You seriously have federal law defining bar as public place? (BTW, I'm asking, not insisting on telling you what laws are like)

Hmmm..I think it crosses the definition of "beer", in a way how it can be drinked (here the word describing beer evolved, not accidentally, from a word describing...anything which you drink to relieve thirst)

Federal court rulings have the force of law. Our Bill of Rights protects unreasonable search and seizure, which controls where police can enforce the law without obtaining warrants, etc. So there's a lot of court cases covering what's private space and what is not. Things like parking lots, shopping malls, public parts of restaurants and bars - these are public spaces for the sake of law enforcement.

So that means one not only cannot be drunk, but even actually drink alcohol in there...

                      What?
                      1) You can't drink in public places...or so I've heard.
                      2) Bar is a public place...apparently. Is there anything in legal system that allows specifically drinking there?

Yes, there is. But you've changed the question. It's publically accessible space, so the police can still go in and enforce laws without a warrant, but it's also privately owned space, and covered by liquor permits. But those are two different purposes. I don't know how to explain that. You might as well ask why a restuarant owner should be allowed to ban smoking, even though it's legal outside.

Hey Wombat, we Canadians know enough about American beer not to drink it

                          Cheers!

Actually what we get here is Bud, Bud light, Coors, Coors light etc.

Can you name me some American beer brands, maybe I have tried a few, I know a few of my friends who drink Bud.

                              Regards,

New Belgium, Rogue, Pyramid, O'Dell, Dogfishhead, Sierra Nevada, Anchor Steam...

If you're going to drink the huge brewers, at least get a Sam Adams or something.
