OK, so Michigan is a "shall issue" state when it comes to concealed carry weapons permits. If you are an upstanding citizen that meets the guidelines the state must issue you a CCW permit.
That's been settled law for years. What's new is the laws interpretation as regards UN-concealed weapons.
Seems now the law is being interpreted by the State Attorney Generals Office that if you carry the weapon in the open, as in an exposed holster for a pistol, NO CCW IS REQUIRED; as long as you obtained the weapon legally you're within the law to carry it Dodge City style.
Bottom line is that Michigan is now an Open Carry state.
Limitation comes down to the obvious: not in schools, government buildings, stadiums etc.
Cities with more restrictive weapons laws now must change them to be in compliance with State law since it supersedes local ordinances.
Hmmm....wonder if this means I can carry my bat'leth too?
