Today's headlines are showing that this tragedy is becoming increasingly political, with more and more voices calling for the resignation of the President of the Republic. This is a totally unprecedented demand and I must admit that I can fully understand it. He has named a one-man investigative "committee", a lawyer with no knowledge of explosives or ordnance.

THE GOVERNMENT and specifically President Demetris Christofias were yesterday left exposed when it emerged at least six ministries had been aware of the danger of storing highly explosive munitions at the Evangelos Florakis naval base.
Leaked documents confirmed that in the run up to Monday’s catastrophe at least two high-level meetings involving five ministries had been held to draw attention to the danger.
