Today's headlines are showing that this tragedy is becoming increasingly political, with more and more voices calling for the resignation of the President of the Republic. This is a totally unprecedented demand and I must admit that I can fully understand it. He has named a one-man investigative "committee", a lawyer with no knowledge of explosives or ordnance.

Doc's circular firing squad seems appropriate

‘If the president is not to blame, then who is?’

THE GOVERNMENT and specifically President Demetris Christofias were yesterday left exposed when it emerged at least six ministries had been aware of the danger of storing highly explosive munitions at the Evangelos Florakis naval base.

Leaked documents confirmed that in the run up to Monday’s catastrophe at least two high-level meetings involving five ministries had been held to draw attention to the danger.

Heat Index 44.1°C (111.4°F) today with no aircon. Just when we thought we had the power situation under control with emergency generators being pressed into general service, POOF!, we have just lost another 70 MW from a turboalternator rendering its soul in another power station. We could have done without this.

Another 50 MW off, and the whole island will be blacked out for days. We are walking on a power knife edge.

I have emergency camping gas lighting and heating for boiling water. Nearly back to the caves.

2KW PV on your roof would have kept you going

seems Toronto will be beating you for heat. Temperature, with Humidex is supposed to climb to 49C today, 37 without.
