As sanctions hit, demand for remaining Kalashnikovs surge in US.

This happens often. Rumor hits that the gov is going to put serial numbers on bullets and track the owners. Run on ammunition. Rumor hits, or the gov threatens, to ban a certain type of gun. Run on the gun.

The more the US government tries to ban or limit a gun the more guns we end up with in the country.

This is of course part of the Russia sanctions. Won't have a lasting effect as AK's are made elsewhere, especially the excellent Finnish version. So long as the parts aren't manufactured in Russia it'll be allowed in.
