Adaptec has announced that it plans to spin off its software business unit in the form of a fully independent and separate company. The software business unit develops and markets industry-leading software products including Easy-CD Creator, Toast, WinOnCD and GoBack. Adaptec anticipates that an initial public offering (IPO) of approximately 15 percent of the Software Company’s common stock should be completed by the end of this year.
