Quake 2, G400, and Qt

Has anyone else played Quake II SDL port on their G400? I am having the problem that any app that uses Qt (such as licq, Opera, KDE apps) becomes garbled after Q2 has run, and takes a while to... well... straighten itself out, for lack of better words. After running Q2, the apps are extremely garbled looking, and after minimizing them and playing with them for a bit, and generally just waiting awhile, they are OK.

It's a messed up problem. I am running Debian woody, kernel 2.4.19, Matrox 2.0 beta XFree86 driver, G400 16MB AGP. Anyone else with similar setup, or problems?
