Has anyone tried VectorLinux?

I'm getting rid of Mandrake on my old laptop and I originally was going to try Gentoo, but since it downloads and compiles nearly everything it would just take too long. So doing some searching I found out about VectorLinux which is based off of Slackware but supposedly easier to install and get running. The packages aren't all up to date but that's no problem.

Anyone have any experience with it? Install as simple as it sounds?
