When you need to back up some perfectly legal DVD, and you are positive that there are absolutely zero copyright violation issues, and the DVD's ISO file requires a dual layer Media: you can give k9copy a try. very simple and to the point GUI, for getting rid of optional soundtracks and other extra material.

worked for me on Suse 10.2 - KDE and Fedora 7 - Gnome.
