Can't blame Linux for this though not this time.
Bought a shuttle Xpc SD32G5. Nice piece of kit slapped it together and installed Suse 64 bit. Fell over in heap on updates so I tried 32 bit. This went okay but wouldn't drive my Dell 2405 properly so I had to find an alternative resolution. No doubt a bug with the onboard Video card and Linux driver.
Rebooted and it froze on login. Tried various bios settings still the same problem.
I then tried Unbuntu. However on install the video dropped out saying unable to display this res. So that killed that idea.
Downloaded Fedora 7. Installed okay but hung on login screen. Operated nicely in fail safe as did Suse.
By now I was suspecting either faulty onboard graphic card or dodgy bios. In the end it was the Bios. The bios that shipped was from Jan. Although the G5 isn't listed on the Shuttle website I noticed the Bios was the same as the G2 version. Downloaded it bingo no more freezing.
So I can now play with Linux without buggering my XP machine or vice versa.
