DirectX6 before or after RR drivers??
Hi All.
Resulting from my problems with BootMagic last week and the fact that my CDR would not write I decided to fisk my drive and start again. All was well until I started on my video partition. I installed WIN95 OSR2B. Mystique drivers, DirectX 6.1 and then RainbowRunner drivers 2.10. Rebooting of couse between each install. When the system rebooted from the RR driver install I got a hung system with a messegae that Windows had a protection fault. (Not a GPF) After rebooting again it came up in 16 color mode. I reset the settings and all appeared Ok until after the next reboot and the same thing happened. I removed all drivers, DirectX but after installing the Mystique drivers again the problem was still there.
In the finish I formated the partition again and reinstalled this time puting DirectX 6.1 after the RR drivers and all seems OK.
Should DirectX be installed after the RR drivers?? I never struck this problem when doing up dates when beta files were coming out... then again DirectX 6 was not out then.
