Well, after long last I received my G400 Max a couple of weeks ago. I'm very pleased with this card, even though I waited it out before buying. I've always planned on pairing it with a Rainbow Runner G so last Saturday (11/13/99) I ordered one. This comes after weeks of the card being out of stock.
Unfortunately, I didn't know it but the cards were already out of stock (the site didn't reflect this until after Monday). Mind you these hadn't even been in stock for a week. I didn't have any clue about this until I called Matrox. First I couldn't get through because of "technical difficulties" and was told to call back. The second time later was busy. Finally, I got through. The sales rep was very polite. He told me the card was already out of stock when I ordered (even though the site listed it as in stock). I didn't understand why I was billed anyway (Matrox Online policy is that they don't allow pre-orders on regular items). He was surprised that no one bothered to contact me about the status of my order.
No Rainbow Runner G cards will be available until December 6th. I'm very disappointed in Matrox (again). Their online store is not only sorely disorganized, but they can't keep up with demand. They claim they reply with a confirmation and tracking number the next business day after the product is ordered. This is not true. I've ordered a Matrox DVD add-on (for Marvel G200) and a G400 Max; I didn't receive any tracking or confirmation for either of them.
Matrox, how do you expect to remain competitive when you don't make your products available to your customers and your online store provides them with such poor service? Well, as far as myself is concerned.
I've I hadn't called I would have never been notified and, who knows, my credit would probably remain billed for eternity... For those who've received good service and their RR-G cards, please do enjoy.
