  • MSP 5.2 and video filter = error code 0?

    Just got it in the mail the other day from e-bay. It works great with the G400 except for some strange crashes and error codes (error code=0) when trying to open the video filters. It works for a while and then just stops. I uninstalled and went through the regestry and deleted anything with ulead. I then deleted the ulead32.ini and ulead.dat folders. I then followed the suggested procedure posted the other day:

    Download the latest of these from Ulead
    - MSP5.2Full/VE update (depending on which version you have)
    - UVAVI.VIO

    Install the updates
    Install the latest VideoTools (updates Ulead32.ini)

    If your MediaStudio is was not bundled with your card, find the MediaStudio
    utils on your Matrox installation CD and copy them to the instructed
    directory.

    Check your Ulead32.ini, the following should be found there (for
    MSP5.2Full/VE):

    [HardwareACC]
    RecompressWhenScrubbing=1
    DisableAcc1=0
    HwCodecID=dmb1
    ;AlwaysKeepLastFrame=1

    [VCAP4_CAPTURE]
    DisableDriverBeforePlayback=1

    [Playback]
    PlayDll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\MCLPlugin.dll

    [Performance Evaluation]
    DDrawEnable=0

    Check your Ulead Settings:

    File/Preferences/General:
    - Check "Keep preview window size independent of preview options"

    File/Preferences/Edit:
    - Frame type "Field order B" (for Marvel/RRG), or "Field order A" (for RR
    Studio)
    - Resample Quality "Best"

    View/Preview Options/Video Editor:
    - Preview Method "Best Preview"
    - Frame type "Field Order B" (for Marvel/RRG), or "Field order A" (for RR
    Studio)
    - Check "Apply video filters"

    View/Preview Options/General:
    - Data Track "Audio and Video"
    - Frame Rate "25" for PAL, "29.97", or "30" for NTSC (I am using PAL, so I
    am not sure which one works better for NTSC)
    - Frame size should be set to the size that you captured your footage with,
    ie. for full frame 704x576 for Pal and 704x480 for NTSC.

    View/Preview Options/Advanced:
    - Check only "Interleave audio and video, Pack audio data for every "1"
    frames.

    View/Preview Options/Compression:
    - Compression "Matrox MJPEG"
    - Audio should be set to same that you have used for capturing your
    footage.

    I also tried different cache settings and temporary/preview folders and drives.

    I have a Tyan 1830S MB,Cel450, 256M RAM, G400 (Marvel), MX300 SC, Fastrak 66 w/ 2 WD 13G 7200, 1WD 13G 5400 (on the MB)

    It works great for transitions and scrubbing. It just seems strange that the video filters bring it to it's knees.
