I managed to get it working under Windows 98 yesterday! This is what you need:
1) The YUY2 tweak .
2) AVI_IO.
3) Picvideo 2.0 codec
4) avi_exe to modify the header of the avi files.
Install all these programs, and proceed as follows:
- Connect your video player, and let it play so the Matrox card gets some PAL60 signal.
- Start avi_io, set capturing mode to the following parameters: 30 frames per second, format: YUY2, full size 704x480, compression: Picvideo codec.
Set the compression settings of the Picvideo codec to the following parameters: Color format= 4-2-2, Interlaced = ">240 lines", Quality level= 18 (depends on PC speed)
Now you can start recording! Once you're ready, you must use "avi_exe" to modify the headers of the *.AVI files to "dmb1".
Subsequently you can play these files with pc-vcr remote, the output should be visible on your TV. If you set your output
format to PAL, you should even be able to record it back !
