AviSynth Dissolve() function

Up to version 0.3 of AviSynth this worked fine, but ever since version 1.0 beta and then all those by Edwin (www.vidtools.net) I can't this to work. I have e-mail Edwin as I assume it must be broken?

I've tried:

dissolve(n,clip1,clip2)
dissolve(clip1,n,clip2)
dissolve(clip1,clip2,n)

and many other things also. Can anyone shed any light on this?
