In a previous thread concerning JVC SHVS vcr's Doc M suggested that TBC was important when looking at a new vcr purchase. I am having difficulty locating any vcr locally with that feature. There are two models of SVHS JVC recorders that I've found so far, one is even on sale right now.
This vcr will initially only be used to play back my old vhs tapes so the question is: If these old tapes play back well on my old Sony vcr is there any reason to think that TBC will improve their quality while being captured?
I plan on using an Svideo cable of course, that's why I was looking for a new vcr.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my visa balance ) Crutchfield does not ship outside of the continental US, as they currently have some scratch and dent JVC HR-S7800 models for $170 US.
TIA
