I'm thinking about upgrading my system and ditching my old FIC VA 503+ motherboard and AMD K6-2 300 processor. they work relatively well for my purposes, but lately I feel like my system has really been straining it's guts to do the job.
I think I've narrowed the choice down to:
1. ABIT BX-133-RAID mobo with the Intel 440BX chipset and PIII-800 processor, or
2. ABIT KT7-RAID motherboard with the VIA VT8363 chipset and Athlon Thunderbird 800 processor.
They both support ATA66/100. They're both very close, pricewise. I'm leaning toward the BX-133 for the Intel chipset, although I've heard very good things about the Thunderbird.
Has anyone here had experience with these motherboards for video editing? How is the VT8363 chipset for stability? It will be a month or three before I'm ready to commit, so hopefully I won't be burned on a squirrelly first-generation system like I was once before.
Thanks all,
Kevin
