Hi Folks!
Been ages and got lost for a while. Would love to pose this question again as from what I've been reading, my captures could be dramitically improved.
My goal is to make best possible vcd-compliant mpegs, svcds, maybe full-screen mpegs and DivX vids.
My current procedure is to take the raw capture using avi-io at 704x480, 29.97fps, YUY2, fullframes (uncompressed), 44.1KHz stereo. The raw avi's don't look so great, some lines, pixels and other noise/artifacts.
After capture, I import all the avi's into Premiere6 (What happened to the clip filter in Premiere6?)for editing. Then export as mpeg using the Panasonic plug-in. The results are decent.
Just to check things out, made a small capture using Premiere and was amazed at the difference. The result was much better than what I've been getting with avi-io..WOW! The problem there is that Premiere wants to make 1 monster avi that won't play and is basically useless.
Then...I tried a test capture with VirtualDub. The results here were also very good. I'm lost when it comes to exactly which filters to apply and in what order they should run in.
It looks like the way to go is to capture with VirtualDub (uncompressed or Huffyuv?), use Avisynth to frameserver it to Premiere then Avisynth to frameserver to TMPGenc.
OK...so here are the real questions:
1) What are the optimal settings for VirtualDub for the raw capture?
2) What filters should be applied?
3) Good lord avisyth is killing me...any suggestions? (for frameserver vdub>premiere and premiere>tmpg)
4) Best settings for Tsunami?
I know I'm asking a lot here but have gotten to the point of almost ripping my hair out *groan* Any tips, comments, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated!!!
H-E-L-P!!! hehehehe
Thanks mucho mucho!
