Suggestions for a new rig?
My current system is currently like so:
Athlon XP+2400 (2Gig),
MSI 745 mobo,
Promise TX2000 with two Maxtor 160G drives in Stripe mode,
nVidia Ti4200,
512MegsRam,
120GigWD boot drive,
Philips PCI sound card,
Pyro 1394 card,
Logitech cordless mouse,
generic case with some neon lights in it
WinXP Pro,
2 dollar coffe mug.
It's been a very stable system and so I'm looking to upgrade just hte core components: mobo, memory, cpu and video card. What's the best AMD/mobo combo one could get these days for around $400 to handle NLE? For the longest time VIA chipsets seemed to be a no-no, are they still not worth the trouble or have they gotten better?
I would consider dual-processors if Premiere Pro 1.5 can take advantage of it (I plan on getting that soon).
