I remember when Ulead's DVD Workshop 2.0 first came out it was a struggle for my computer to preview 1 or 2 motion menus in real time. I generally don't mess around with fancy menus anymore but today I was making a DVD and forgot to uncheck the "Motion Menu" tick box. 8 motion menus all previewed in realtime on my current system!
I know my current system is much faster than my one from just a few years ago but this little example really make me sit back in amazement in how far we come processor-wise in just a few years. DVD Workshop 2.0 used to be a little sluggish with certain operations, like searching through a large MPEG-2 file in the edit mode. Not with today's hardware.
I beta tested this software as I know a few others did in this forum so I really remember each and every little part of this software. It's still a great application too.
You know it seems like if someone could write a little DVD authoring program and computer player for HD, or any video for that matter, there could be a market for it. Of course it would not play on stand alone players but say someone produced a simple DVD authoring tool that accepted HD material in MPEG4, MPEG2, VC1, and WMV format. Then they put out a little free player. Instantly there woudl be a way to move HD content around. Just a thought.
